Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before you buy. If you have a question not answered here, email support@steamticket.ca.
Is SteamTicket affiliated with SOPEEC, ABSA, TSBC, TSSA, or PanGlobal?
No. SteamTicket is a completely independent study tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, licensed by, or connected in any way to SOPEEC, ABSA (Alberta Boilers Safety Association), Technical Safety BC, TSSA (Technical Standards and Safety Authority), or PanGlobal Publishing. All questions are original content written to the publicly available ABSA/SOPEEC 4th Class syllabus. No copyrighted textbook content is reproduced.
Which provinces and territories is SteamTicket useful for?
SteamTicket is built around the SOPEEC exam standard. Twelve of Canada's thirteen jurisdictions use SOPEEC exams for 4th Class certification: Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, and Yukon. Quebec administers its own MMF (mécanicien de machines fixes) system — our content targets the SOPEEC standard and is not aligned to Quebec's MMF exams. See the province pages for jurisdiction-specific details.
What is the actual SOPEEC 4th Class exam format?
SOPEEC 4th Class consists of two independent papers: Part A (4A) and Part B (4B). Each paper is 100 multiple-choice questions with a 3-hour time limit. The pass mark is 65% on each paper independently — passing one paper does not give credit toward the other. SteamTicket's mock exams match this format exactly: 100 questions, timed, with a score report at the end.
How does the SMART Quiz work?
The SMART Quiz is a deterministic, results-driven study engine — not AI. Every session is built from your own answer history stored locally on your device. Units where your running score is below 70% appear more often, with incorrectly answered questions re-asked at increasing intervals. Units where you consistently score above 70% get lighter review treatment. There is no randomness: the same history always produces the same session order, so your progress is predictable and reproducible. Your data stays on your device and syncs to your account when you log in.
How many questions are included?
4th Class Part A includes 584 original exam-style questions across 12 units. 4th Class Part B includes 706 questions across 12 units. The bundle (Part A + Part B) gives you access to 1,290+ questions covering all 24 units of the SOPEEC 4th Class syllabus. 5th Class is currently being authored and is not yet available.
What does "lifetime access" mean?
You pay once and have access for as long as SteamTicket exists. There are no subscription fees or renewal charges. If we add questions or update the bank for the course you purchased, you get the updates automatically at no extra cost.
Can I use SteamTicket offline?
Yes. The web app is fully responsive and works offline once loaded. Your progress is stored on-device first and synced to your account when you reconnect. This means you can study on a job site or in a plant without Wi-Fi.
What is SteamTicket's refund policy?
We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee. If SteamTicket is not right for you for any reason, email support@steamticket.ca within 30 days of your purchase date and we will issue a full refund. No questions asked. See the full Refund Policy for details.
Who processes payments? Is checkout secure?
All payments are processed by Paddle, who acts as the merchant of record. Paddle handles all tax calculation and remittance, including Canadian GST/HST. Your payment details go directly to Paddle — SteamTicket never stores your card number. Paddle is PCI-DSS compliant.
Is the 5th Class available?
Not yet. The 5th Class question bank is currently being authored. 5th Class certification exists in Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut. Email support@steamticket.ca to join the waitlist and be notified when it launches.
What devices does SteamTicket support?
SteamTicket is a web app — it runs in any modern browser on desktop, laptop, tablet, or smartphone. No app to download or install. It works on iOS Safari, Chrome on Android, and all major desktop browsers.
Do you offer group or employer pricing?
Not currently. If you are purchasing for a team or have an institutional request, email support@steamticket.ca and we will see what we can arrange.
