No. SteamTicket is a completely independent study tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, licensed by, or connected in any way to SOPEEC, ABSA (Alberta Boilers Safety Association), Technical Safety BC, TSSA (Technical Standards and Safety Authority), or PanGlobal. All questions are original content written to the publicly available ABSA/SOPEEC syllabi for 5th through 1st Class. No copyrighted textbook content is reproduced.

SteamTicket is built around the SOPEEC exam standard, used for power engineer certification across most of Canada's provinces and territories — including Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador, the Northwest Territories, and Yukon. Two jurisdictions are exceptions: Quebec administers its own MMF (mécanicien de machines fixes) system, and Nunavut runs its own Chief Inspector examinations rather than the standardized SOPEEC papers (though it follows the same 5th-to-1st-Class ladder). You pay once and have access for as long as SteamTicket exists. There are no subscription fees or renewal charges. If we add questions or update the bank for the course you purchased, you get the updates automatically at no extra cost.

No. SteamTicket is exam-prep practice. It is not an ABSA-accepted education program and does not grant exam eligibility or send completion letters to ABSA. In Alberta, sitting 4A/4B generally requires an accepted 4th class course (or the first term of an accepted 2-year technology program, or a mechanical engineering degree). Passing the papers is also separate from steam-time / lab experience credit. See Alberta 4th Class exam eligibility and confirm current rules with ABSA before you book.

SOPEEC 4th Class consists of two independent papers: Part A (4A) and Part B (4B). Each paper is 100 multiple-choice questions with a 3-hour time limit. The pass mark is 65% on each paper independently — passing one paper does not give credit toward the other. SteamTicket's mock exams match this format exactly: 100 questions, timed, with a score report at the end.

Sometimes a supervisor, employer training budget, or union professional-development fund will reimburse exam-prep materials. We cannot promise that any named school, union, or fund will approve SteamTicket, and we are not on ABSA’s accepted education-program list. If you need a receipt for a claim, buy on the web (Paddle is the merchant of record) and email support@steamticket.ca with the details your fund requires. Apple in-app receipts are usually a poor employer invoice. Ask your supervisor before you rely on reimbursement.

Yes. The web app is fully responsive and works offline once loaded. Your progress is stored on-device first and synced to your account when you reconnect. This means you can study on a job site or in a plant without Wi-Fi.
