313A vs G3 vs Refrigeration Plant Operator
Do not buy the wrong bank. Three Canadian tickets get mixed up in search results. They are not the same exam, not the same workplace, and not the same SteamTicket course.
313A / Red Seal refrigeration mechanic
This is the field mechanic Certificate of Qualification. Ontario uses trade code 313A. Other provinces use the Red Seal Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic standard.
The national Red Seal sitting is 125 four-option questions, 4 hours, 70% to pass. A formula sheet is provided. Confirm the current sitting on Red Seal exam information before you register. The work is install and service of refrigeration and air-conditioning systems, not sitting a boiler plant.
SteamTicket's 313A bank is live: 600 original questions, $79 CAD one-time on the web, $89.99 on iPhone. Not a subscription. Try the free 313A sample or open the 313A course page.
G3 / G2 gas technician
TSSA (and equivalent) gas tickets. Open-book code exams. Different books, different hazards, different job. A refrigeration mechanic may later hold gas endorsements. That does not make G3 practice a 313A bank.
If a site sells "313A" next to G3 from the same gas-module pile, treat the overlap as a warning, not a convenience.
Refrigeration Plant Operator (RPO)
SOPEEC operator ticket for arenas, cold storage, and plants. You run the plant. You are not the field mechanic C of Q.
SteamTicket already sells RPO and Class A. Use those if you need the operator exam. Do not buy 313A for an arena operator sitting.
Quick filter
Wrong exam prep is not close enough. It is a wasted sitting.
- Installing / servicing systems in the field → 313A / Red Seal mechanic
- Lighting and servicing gas appliances → G3 / G2
- Operating an arena or plant refrigeration plant → RPO
